Chinese Paintings On Glass
Date
December 2023
These breathtaking works were found at Fort Purandar in Maharashtra and painted by Chinese painters travelling to India and presumably commissioned by royalty almost two centuries ago. The series of three portraits is assumed to be Jenghis Khan, Peshwa Baji Rao I and his wife Mastani.
KIAN Foundation received these works in a fragile state with paint peeling off the glass, however with specialised materials and delicate restorative work our team was able to breathe life into this historical portraits.
