Vipta Kapadia
Vipta Kapadia is a distinguished abstract artist. Born in 1954, her extensive experience has led to her being a well-known artist in India and internationally. She earned her Diploma in Fine Arts, Drawing and Painting from Sir J.J. School of Arts, Mumbai in 1978, followed by a Diploma in Interior Designing & Decoration from S.N.D.T. University, Mumbai in 1984.
Kapadia's enduring engagement with the language of landscapes adds diverse layers to her exploration of the genre. Although most academic exposure to the genre involved Western landscapes, she developed a critical awareness of this. She further investigates the Realist, Impressionist, and Abstract expressions in landscapes, reflecting the evolving identity of the postcolonial world in India.
She has showcased her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions over the years, including at the Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai, the Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi, and many others. She has received various awards and accolades, and her work is part of private collections across Asia, Europe, North America, and Australia.
